Iris is a guest at the Fulton County Shelter , arriving with her sister, who is about to have puppies. The difference between Iris and most puppies in any shelter is that she does n’t seek to get anyone’s attention , she chooses to turn against the wall and hide in a corner , as if she He thought that no one would notice his presence. .
Iris has lived on the street for more than two years and cannot adapt to the shelter.
Shelter volunteer Laurel-Ann Dooley wants to do more to save Iris and her sister, because it’s clear that Iris will never fit in.
So she decided to create a Facebook post about the two sisters hoping someone would be interested in saving them, both together or separately.
“Iris was completely depressed, she left her food on the floor and refused to eat. She let me cuddle her but she wouldn’t stop pushing herself against the wall, she was absolutely terrified,” Laurel-Ann Dooley wrote on Facebook.
BarkVille Dog Rescue answered the call for help immediately, and one of their volunteers found Iris’s sister a loving family where she could have puppies and all the love that they need.
But with Iris the situation was not so easy until Lin Rocke , a veterinary technician, saw her photo and was certain that she could help her.
“I spoke to my husband and asked him to let me help her, because I am sure I can help a terrified, hungry and unhealthy dog. He agreed because he understands my loving heart and because little by little I have become like myself, now his office is full of doggie items,” said Lin Rocke.
When Iris arrived at her new house she quickly located where she could corner, the corner is still her favorite place, but what gives Lin Rocke hope is that now she finds different corners that she likes .
“Now I can be close to Iris, I can do my computer work with her and get her used to my presence,” Lin Rocke said.
Iris’s behavior is because she has had bad experiences with humans and she doesn’t know that being with them things can turn out well. But Lin hopes to teach him that life can be good , and to do so she enlists the help of her dog, Letty, a golden retriever.
“Iris needs all the patience in the world so she can understand that our world and hers are no different,” said Lin Rocke.
Sometimes the hurt a being has suffered can be so great that there is only a deep fear of opening the heart and believing that what has caused us so much pain. However, there is no such thing as unrepairable true love. We hope that very soon Iris can trust again and give her heart.
